For those of you who are new to dahlias, let me explain some of the numbers and letters after the variety names. LS is limited stock: last year was a terrible year for growing dahlias. The four digit number is the American Dahlia Society classification number.
The letters stand for the Size:
AA (Giant) over 10 inches in diameter
A (Large) 8-10 inches in diameter
B (Medium) 6-8 inches in diameter
BB (Small) 4-6 inches in diameter
M (Miniature) up to 4 inches in diameter
BA (Ball) over 3.5 inches in diameter
MB (Miniature Ball) 2-3.5 inches in diameter
P (Pompon) up to 2 inches in diameter
S (Single) over 2 inches in diameter
MS (Mignon Single) up to 2 inches in diameter
(Note: this is the classification size. Dahlias may be larger or smaller depending on weather, soil, and gardening practices. Dahlias may also be a little different from the colors in the photos depicted in the gallery, due to your computer monitor settings, and all the things that also affect bloom size.)
